Janelle Tong is the lead author on another paper accepted for publication in the American Journal of Ophthalmology, available online now ahead of print in December, 2019.

This study identified that with normal ageing, the macular ganglion cell layer declines at a consistent rate across the entire macula. This provides a comparative rate of change potentially enabling earlier detection of pathological ganglion cell layer thinning in practice.

Additionally, this study demonstrated that accurate prediction of visual field sensitivity from macular ganglion cell layer thickness was possible after applying techniques to reduce inter- and intra-individual variability.
